Beyond the Brink: Memoir of a Former Christian

About the Book

Beyond the Brink: Reflections of a Former Christian is a thought-provoking look at the — first circumstantial, and later intentional — dismantling of one’s faith and finding a new path.

As a young adult, Thomas was a devout Pentecostal. However, life experiences, university studies, and critical inquiry led him away from his religious roots. Still a thoughtful Christian, Thomas experienced a mid-life crisis triggered by a perceived “call to ministry,” but while in seminary he eventually came to the realization that he could not in good conscience continue down the MDiv ordination path.

Making the difficult decision to withdraw from the program, Thomas felt lost and uncertain about what would come next. Through his story, we explore the challenges of transitioning from a fundamentalist worldview to a more nuanced understanding of spirituality and a brighter way forward.

Whether you’re experiencing your own crisis of faith or simply curious, Beyond the Brink will take you on a deeply personal and insightful journey to discover what it means to truly question your beliefs and be content with the answers you find.
